Tom Dielen, World Archery secretary general, has been re-elected to the International World Games Association Executive Committee.
The World Games has been referred to as ‘the Olympics of the compound discipline’, and features a field round for recurve and compound shooters and a target round for compound archers as an international competition for events not included in the official Olympic Games.
Elected during the federation’s AGM at SportAccord in Turkey, Mr Dielen released a statement on the World Archery website: “Archery is an important part of the World Games movement. The sport has been on the programme since 1985, and it offers our non-Olympic disciplines the elite Games that they deserve.
“The introduction of compound as a separate event at Cali 2013 was highly successful. Knowing how well the organisation of our World Cup stage in Wroclaw is going, now in its second year, I am wholly confident in the success of archery at Wroclaw 2017 – the next World Games.”
