Great Britain’s para-archery squad picked up nine medals at the para-archery European Championships in Switzerland. The haul meant the team ranked second overall in the medal table, and included all three individual medals in women’s W1 – where Jo Frith beat Vicky Jenkins to gold, while Chloe Ball took bronze. Mel Clarke picked up silver in women’s compound, with John Cavanagh taking another silver in men’s W1. John Stubbs won bronze in men’s open compound, and took another bronze as part of the compound mixed team with Mel Clarke. The men’s recurve open team of David Phillips, Simon Powell and Paul Browne won gold, and the recurve mixed team of David Phillips and Hazel Christy collected another bronze. Sara Symington, Archery GB performance director, said, “This has been a fantastic weekend for the para-archery team. We are extremely proud of all the athletes and staff that turned every opportunity into a medal.”
