Archery GB has launched Shooting for Gold, a new archery programme introduced in collaboration with Butlins to capitalise on the popularity of archery after the 2012 Olympics. It aims to offer archery classes to children visiting the holiday resorts, where they can shoot for either blue, red or gold badges depending on what they learn about the sport and their scores. Launched at Bognor Regis by Archery GB head coach Lloyd Brown, with the help of Becky Martin and Bryony Pitman, Lloyd commented, “I think Shooting for Gold is a great way to get more people interested in our sport and motivated to take up archery. Butlins attracts 50,000 or 60,000 kids in a year. It’s amazing. I’ve seen it for myself, the classes all fill up. We may need to have more classes to cope with demand.”
