World Archery announced the results of its Athletes of the Year poll at a gala held in Las Vegas during the Vegas Shoot and fourth round and finals of the Indoor World Cup. The winners were:
Men’s compound – Pierre-Julien Deloche (France)
Women’s compound – Erika Jones (USA)
Men’s recurve – Brady Ellison (USA)
Women’s recurve – Aida Roman (Mexico)
The categories are polled by a panel of experts, and voting for all the awards is open to the public. In the previous year, the Athlete of the Year award had been presented to one male archer and one female archer, but has been extended to cover the four main target disciplines. The other awards announced by World Archery included Volunteer of the Year, which was won by Teddy Bettex of Switzerland, and Photograph of the Year, which was won by Geoff Weeks’s photograph of a target reflecting in a water droplet. Geoff will receive the award at the Archery GB AGM in Cirencester on 18 April.
